Serious riots, accompanied by looting and the firing of premises, have occurred at Cardiff 111 connection with tho stallion's strike. Earlier iu the day the dry dock labourers and the cargo men struck in sympathy with the seamen, and all the men sooa got out of hand. A collection of boxes lying at the East Dock lock was fired, and subsequently the strikers fired tho Liverpool and Dublin Steamship Company's warehouse, believing that it was being us«d to shelter blacklegs. Tho damage done to the warehouse amounts to .612,000. Meanwhile a dozen barrels of beer were rolled, from the quay, and the contents distributed among the mob, many becoming intoxicated. Barrels of beef packed in ice were also looted. The firemen, by using a hose, frustrated aa endeavour to fire a stack of barrels of petroleum. The strikers retaliated with stones. The pol'co made' numerous baton charges, and thirty persons were badly injured, including several of the police. Though military assistance was at first requested, it was decided by the authorities to introduce a force of 350 London police.
