ARAWA LEAVES CAPE TOWN. Advice received by the local agents of the Shaw Savill and Albion Company is to tho effect that R.M.S. Arawa, en route rom London to Wellington, continued her journey from Capo Town on Sunday last. She is "due in port on August 8.
NEW 'COASTAL STEAMER. Another new Btcamer is to make her ap- I pearance in the New Zealand coastal trade within tho next few months. Captain Geo. Schultzc, late master of the barqiiontino Mary Isabel, has resigned his position, and goes to Scotland to bring out tho new steamer. It is understood that this latest addition is being built for the Mitchelson Timber Company, Auckland. AORANGI'S AEROGRAM. At 7.30 p.m. yesterday, R.M.S._ Aorangi, bound from San Francisco to Wellington, reported by "wireless" that sho was 560 miles off, and would reach port on Thursday afternoon. The vessel has experienced a lino passage all the way. FELICIANA SAILS TO-DAY. Repairs to the tramp steamer Feliciana, which put in to Wellington on July 5 disabled and short of coal, were completed yesterday, acd at 9 p.m. a turn was taken out of her engines in the presence of Lloyd's representative at Wellington (Mr. Alex. M'Vicar), and the Government Inspector- of Machinery (Mr. A. Calvert). The vessel is to leave port, for: Newcastle and Valparaiso this, morning. •
' Assistant-keeper Connor, of the Brothers Lighthouse, is to replace Assistant-keeper M'Donald, who lias resigned, at Capo Maria light. Pohcrua, s.s., which was detained at Greymouth owing to the bad state of the bar at that port, left' for Wellington at 2.45 'p.m. yesterday.
On Tuesday the Scales chartered steamer Clan M'Laren arrived at Port Piri-a from New Zealand and Port Kembla. She takes in a cargo of ore and wheat at Port. Firie for London, and her New Zealand wool will catch the September sales.
At Lyttelton. the auxiliary scow Echo is loading produce for Wellington. She is expected in port during the next few days. From Napier and Gisborne, the Canterbury Stoamship Company's steamer ketone returns to Wellington about Saturday to load for southern porta. Yesterday morning the Holmdale came off the Patent Slip, and the Kaitoa and tug Pilot were placed on the cradle. The Union Company's steamer Takapuna was docked at Port- Chalmers on Monday. Mr. G. P. Evans has joined the Patccna as sccond officer. It is expected that the Wakanui, now on the waiting berth fit Port. Chalmers, will dock at tho end of this month beforo loadin? outward cargo. 1 Leaving London on June 3 for Auckland. Wellington, and the BlulT, the bhaw, Saull steamer Waiwera. will call at Beauty Point, Tasmania, this week to land part cargo. It Is reported that after discharging at tho Bluff the vessel will go to Port Chalmers, where the will bo laid up. Upon completion of discharge of Home cargo at Wellington, the Tyser Linos steamer Star of India- lraves for Australia on Sunday morning to load for London. The Navua left- Auckland for Wcllincton yesterday, and i-s duo to-morrow. Upon completion of discharge of her cargo of Island fruits, she proceeds to Westport, and thencc back to Wellington with a load of coal. Mr, L. J. Captain Sherrington, who has boon acting-mas-ter of the latter vessel, is to eo to Australia to join tho MiHtai as chief officer. Captain Duncan was in charge of tho Mimir© for one voyage previous to this ap- : pointment. To-day tile Shaw Savill steamer Matatua | is to leavo Wellington for Napier and Aucki land. From the northern port the Matatua I sails finally, on July 24, for London, and is I due at her destination on September 6.
