MONTHLY MEETING. ' IBy Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, July 18. The monthly meeting of the A. and. P. Association was held to-day. 'ihere was a very fair' attendance of members, and tho. president, Mr. Conway, occupied tho chair.
Correspondence. ITrom E. Short, agreeing to represent the association at a meeting to he neld to consider the formation 01 a Clydesdale Association.—Vote of thanks accotdcd Mr. Short for undertaking tho duties. ' From the -New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers' Association, couveying resolution passed by members in -appreciation of the good work dono by Mr. J. C. Lane, aud his courtesy at all times.—lteceived. From the ltomney Marsh Sheep-breed-ers' Association, stating that tho two championships 111 this ureed had boon allotted to this association this year.—Accepted with thanks. From the Department of Agriculture, with report upon the milk-testing competitions at the .National Dairy Show. The report generally commendcd the work of tiio pupils engaged in the competition. From tho Borough Council, asking if the association would contribute to the Cost of advertising tho town- and district in a commercial publication.. . . ' From the Timaru A. and I'. Association, I asking for details of jumps used by this, assocation.—Keferred to the caretaker.
General. Mr. E. S. Abraham moved that the j delegates to the -Producers' Association 1 should be prepared, if satisfied after hear- ' ing Mr. Shelton's report and the general discussion that good work is being done, 1 to support the movement to .carry on the ] work at the expense of the public funds. ' —Carried. . , A communication was received at this stago from Mr. G. I-'. Ellis, offering a J donation of JC3 3s. to tho shoeing compcti- , Mr. M'Rae reported that practically nil i the prize money had been collected. Ho i mentioned a further donation of .£2 2s. from Mr. Lethbridge. Mr. I?. S- Abraham stated that the Hi"h'land Dip Company had informed him that tlicy wcro forwarding a trophy cup to the association.—Votes of thanks were passed to the donors, and the allocation of the Highland cup was referred to tho Sheep Schedule Committee. Winter Show. The report of the Winter Shtlw Committee was read and adopted. Ihis showed that the receipts amounted to .ElOlO and expenditure to i* leaving a credit balance of .E14.1. The chairman of tho Winter Show Committeo (Major Dunk) said that this was a small margin considering the amount ot work put into it, but unfortunately on this occasion, besides tho inclement weather, there wero a number of other factors operating against them, and under the circumstances he thought they might congratulate themselves on having a credit balance at all.
