WELLINGTON HOSPITAL BOARD.
The Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met yesterday. There were present tho Re'v. W. A. Evans (chairman), Messrs. G. Nash, J. E. Fitzgerald, W. Galloway, B. R. Gardener, J. Godber, A. H. llindmarsh, R. C. Kirk, G. T. London, J. W. M'Ewan, D. M'Laron, i". T. Moore, D. Robertson, J. Smith, W. Tompsitt, J. Trevor, R. Fletcher, and the Rev. JEI. Van Staveren.
Tho Hospital Committeo recommended: That the special "charge nurses" for Victoria and .Seddon Hospitals bo appointed at a salary of ,£GO per annum; that the salaries ot sisters oil tho nursing staff commence at .£7O, and be increased to JCBO per nnnum by two annual increments of .£5; that the secretary and the house steward bo empowered, in addition to the members of the board, to sign the inpatients' tickets recommending patients for admission to the hospital; that the salaries of the sisters on tho nursing staff at tho sanatorium be increased from dC'O to .£BO per annum by two annual increments of iCS; that the salaries of the sis; ters on the nursing stall at tho Otaki Hospital be increased from ,£Ga to i£7o per annum after tho first year's service; and that all orders for admission of patients to the Otald Hospital except in urgent cases should bo signed by a member of the board. Tho report was adopted. The Charitable Aid Committeo reported that Mr. John Glen was appointed, out of 48 applicants, to the position, of infirmary attendant.
The Public Health Committeo recommended that tho notification of tuberculosis be more rigorously enforced throughout the Wellington. Hospital Board's district; and that an officer of tho board be not allowed _to take up any other remunerative position outside tho employ of the board. The recommendations were adopted. Mr. J. W. M'Ewan moved: "That ill future when officers of the board and experts aro appointed as members of committees that such officers and experts act in an advisory capacity only, and shall not have the right to vote." The motion was carried. Mr. Fitzgerald moved that tho meetings of tho board should be held in the ev#nings at 7.30 o'clock, instead of 3.30 in tho afternoon. Mr. Fletcher seconded. The motion was lost by 13 to 5. Mr. F. T. Moore nvived: "That the supervision of tho recently-appointed health inspectors be withdrawn from tho Health Department and placed in the hands of the Hospital Board's Health Committee." After some discussion cbonsideration of the proposal was adjourned till next meeting.
