POLITICAL REFORM LEAGUE,
■ 1 rWOMEN'S BRANCH AND THE PRESS ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of the . Women's branch of the .Political Refold League was held at the Boulcott Street Hall last evening, Mrs. 'A. K. Newman'presiding over a large and enthusiastic gathering of members. Durin® tho course of an interesting address, Airs. Newman said that the congratulations of all wero extended to Mr. W. 1\ Massey, Leader of tho Opposition, on tlie result of his recent meeting at tho Town Hall. The main business of tho meeting was the consideration of tho plan of campaign for tho coming elections. Committees wero organised for each electorate, and various matters of detail discussed and resolved upon. It was decided to support tho candidature of Messrs. Herdman, Wright, Fisher, and Dr. Newman for tho Wellington city seats. Tho meeting accorded a voto of sympathy to Mrs. Fell, a vice-president of'the league, who is at present indisposed. On tho motion of Mrs. Newman, tho following resolutions were unanimously adopted
"(I) The women's branch of the Political Reform League desires to express its appreciation' of Mr. Massey's proposal to reduco from G5 year 9 to 60 years the ago at which old-age pensions shall begin in tho c.iso of,, women, thoroughly realising the hardship endured by- many, workers in having to wait for pensions until thev reach tbo ago of 65 years." "(2) The members of the women's branch of the league regrets the action of. the Press Association in suppressing the full report of Mr. Massey's recent policy speech at tho Town Hall on July 6."
