EXHIBITION IN MELBOUKNE. By TelcEraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, July 13. Shinia, tho Japanese jiu-jitsu expert, defeated Howard, tho boxer, in two out of three contests. Howard, who w-,9 handicapped with cight-ounco gloves, in the first bout knocked out the Japanese in a minute and a quarter. Afto- a spell Shinia threw himself feet foremost at the boxer, and got a scissors grip, nearly breaking Howard's leg. Ho repeated the performance a second time. It was not a pretty contest, and the general opinion was that jiu-jitsu is unlikely to bi-come popular in a civilised country.
