The Wairarapa Kngby- I'nion has granted .£5 towards entertaining tho Wellington schools football team when they play theiv. representative, mntch in Cnrtcrton this year. ■A- match -between" tho' Mastcrlon and South Wairarapa. Chess Clubs will probably take plac'n early next month. There wns a good attendance of members at tho meeting of the Carterton Literary and Debating Society on Monday evening;, when Mr. Thomson, M.A., gave an interesting address. The "social" which was to have been held on Monday evening under the auspices of St. Mark's Church was postponed on account of the weather. It will now bo held on Monday evening next. The sum'of ,£ls 3s. was takfn at tho gate at the • football match played q) Carterton on Saturday last.
