CHEISTCHUECH SEATS. (By Teleeraph.— Press Association.! Christchurch, July 8. The statement that Messrs. J. D. Hall, J. J. Dougall, and J. E. Bcunthave been selected as Opposition candidates at tho general election for Christqhurc.h city seats is officially denied. The selection will prob«bly bo made during the next few days. HAWKE'S BAY. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.} Hastings, July 8. ; The recent visit of Mr. Massey appears h have given a stimulus to political matters in this district. A requisition is being circulated asking Mr. A. L. D. Fraser to oontest the Hawke's Bay seat, and it is believed that he will consent to become a candidate. There are already four other candidates announced' for this constituency, namely, Messrs. Hugh Campbell (Opposition). Eustace Lane (Independent), A. E. Jull (Government), and H. Lan Siinson (Government). It is-not certain whether the 'Sitting member, Mr. A. Dillon, will neck re-election. His health lately has been far from good.
