FEATHERSTON.

The public school reopened oil Monday last, alter the winter holidays, but owing to measles there has been an attendance of below 10 children. The number on the roll is about 160. The Education Department was asked to closo tlio school again, but declined to do so, suggesting that affected children and contacts should remain away. Members of . the Featherston County Council made an inspection on Wednesday of the suggested route for the deviation of the llimutaka Bond near Featherston. There are 110 practical difficulties in the way, and two bridges could be done without. It was decided that application be made to the Government through tlio member for the district to send an engineer to report.
