A deputation from tbo city oarcass butchers waited on Mr. Flowers, ActingChief Secretary to-day, and denied the existence of a meat ring acting in restraint of trade. They had not endeavoured, they declared,- to corner slaughtering space at the abattoirs, as alleged by a former deputation. One speaker declared that it was rumoured that the American Meat Trust was behind a competitor who was endeavouring to squeezo them out. Mr. Flowers replied that every deputation blamed somebody else for the Meat Trust. He promised an inquiry. THE RABBIT COMBINE. Sydnoy, July 5. The State Assembly has appointed a Select Committee to inquire into the alleged rabbit combine.
