PROPOSED MUNICIPAL DEPOT.
Councillor Barber displayed somo curiosity last evening us to what had become of the project (o establish a municipal milk depot. Councillor Shirtclilfp stated Hint the matter had not been lost sight of. The iWCTssary legislation had been passed last sossici, and the council had passed a resolution providing (hat' Iho required steps should he taken to obtain a suitable site and t o cn \\ n meeting of the ratepayers put the proposal before them, and seek their sanction for Iho necessary loan. There' had been soino delay, Councillor Shirlclifl'e slated, in connection with the selection of a suitable sile, but negotiations were now in train with the llarliour Board for a site that would lx> eminently suitable for tho purposes of a milk iloput. It would bo useless, Iho councillor concluded, (o go to the ratepayers until a site had l.ven selected niul the necessary plans prepaivti, fo that the cost of the undertaking could bo slated. The Abattoirs Committee would probably report further upon tho subject to the council at its next meet ing.
