Tho AVangaiuii Chamber of Commerce passed a motion supporting the opinion of the Wellington Chamber that the speed of the steamers between Australia and New Zealand does not need accelerating and 'that Wellington should be the distributing point of the Suez mail. Ther" are five nominations for .he three vacancies which occurred on tht< Wanganui Education Board by rffluxion of time. For the Northern Ward Mr. F. M. Spurdle (Wanganui). the sittinc member, and Mr. T. N. Blackball (Eltham) have been nominated, for the southern Mr.F.Pirani (Feilding), the present chairman, and Mr. A. Matheson (I-ongburn). Mr. J. P. Aldridsc (Taihap?) has been reelected unopposed for-the Central tt ard. Tho results of tho voting will not lw known for another month. Mr. W. Ritchie, chairman of the Uaitotara. County Council, will represent that hody at the forthcoming Countks Conference.
