CANTERBURY HERE TO-DAY. ; The Canterbury representatives are expected to arrive this morning and will stay at the Xrocadcro. . Arrangements have been made for them to practise at Day's Bay. No practice games are to bo played next Saturday owing to the Shield match, the local association having decided that only tho Ladies' Association may have the use of their grounds excepting Day's Bay No. 1. Mr. C. S. Falconer has been solectcd to control t'he game next Saturday. BOXING. WAERARAPA ASSOCIATION. (By Toleeraph.—Press Association.] Masterton, July 28. The Wairarapa Boxing Association held its first tournament of the season in the Masterton Town Hall this evening, when there was a very large attendance. Dr. Napier M'Lean, of Wellington, acted as referee, a.nd gavo every satisfaction. The heavy-weight contest between G. Sievers, of Carterton, and J. Lawrence, of the same township, was won by the former. In the middle-weight contest, W. Poed, of Carterton, who fought V. Billington, of Masterton, was counted out in tho second round. G. Barr, of Masterton, defeated J. Fergusson, of Waipawa, in tho bantam-weight division, and 1\ Ellis, of Wellington, proved too good for F. Iverr, of To Horo in tho featherweight contest. 0. Cadwallader, of Wai j hakeke, defeated P. Reid, of Carterton, in the welter-weight set-to. An exhibition bout was given by D. Murphy, of Wellington, and F. ■ Maloney, of Masterton.
