GENERAL FARMING NEWS.
It is reported that during the past season a considerable quantity of tho timothy-seed produced in tho south contained large amounts of ragwort-seed. Mr. T. W. Lonsdale has been transferred from' the management of Kuakura Experimental Farm to that of tho Moumahaki Farm.
The two draught stallions located at the Ituaknra Experimental Farm are performing tho work of the ordinary carthorses on the property. They are regularly employed in the drays, and are' reported to ho extremely docile. Tho 'object is to 'maintain the horses in a healthy condition as well as to insure tho. .maintenance of their power as sires.
In his annual' report, Jlr. 11. AV. G. Millman, superintendent of the Central Markets, West Rraithficld, points out that London is now practically dependent on. refrigerated, as distinct from freshkilled, meat; and any increase in the supplies of beef and mutton (an increase called for either by deficiencies in the quantity of home produce, or by the growth of demand) must bo met for a considerable time by increased refrigerated supplies from Australasia and South America.
