Newtown Park. All the troops on parade, both naval and military, presented an admirably smart appearance, and the movements throughout wero conducted with precision and order. I am sure that all the citizens of Wellington who witnessed tho ceremony must have been impressed and gratified that, so great, a day. in the annals of tho Empire was celebrated in a manner so fitting; I also noted with appreciation the smart appearance of the Boy Scouts who lined the approach to the ground. I shall be obliged if you will convey to all ranks my congratulations on tho success of the parade, and inform them that I shall have pleasure in transmitting to his Majesty the King an account of the morning s proceedings." It is interesting to note, in this connection, that the excellent planning of the details, apportionment of ground, the spacing, the control of the assembling multitude, and the policing of the Park generally,' was the. result of careful and minute preparation in the Department of the AdjutantGeneral of the Forces (Colonel A. W. Robin, C.8.), and his staff—Captains E. 0; Chosnoy (Assistant-Adjutant-General), Captain H. H. Browne (Assistant-Quarter-' master-General)— working in co-operation with Inspector Ellison, of the Police Department. In the past tho planning out of these details was. left to the District I Headquarters'. Staff, and. Thursday's review was the first occasion upon, which.'tie whole- of the arrangements were, controlled l)y the Adjutant-General's,Depart-ment at Headquarters, and mncli of the success'! of the day's proceedings was duo to the perfect! unity of purpose and action which marked the co-ordination of I the military forces with tho police.
