Gardiner and Beckett, An amalgamated church choir was present, but the attendance of tho general public was agaiu disappointing on account of tho stormy weather.

On Thursday evening the local volunteer corps gave a smoke concert, at. which past and present members were invited. The occasion was chosen as a fitlinj; time, to close up the volunteer company, the Territorials now taking their place. This function was well attended, and a pleasant evening was spent. Speech and-song was the order of the evening, and the speech given by Lietit.-Colonel Stevenson was much appreciated. The speaker gnvo the history of the Woodville Volunteer' Company from its formation, and cited the different tips and downs which the corps iiad been through, particularly in the early days. ■ Captains Nelson and Cronin also interested the gathering by relating tlieir experiences.
