PUBLIC WORSHIP.

A PRESBYTERIAN MEMORIAL.- - At tho meeting of the Presbyterian Synod at Dublin recently, a memorial to mo General Assembly was, on tho motion of tho Rev. .1. C. Johnston, unanimously adopted, asking of tho Assembly to take into consideration tho question of how tu induce and help tho congregations to tako a moro active and prominent part in public worship. In a statement of considerable length, several important suggestions are -thrown out.. Is it right, it is asked, that the congregations should take no audible part in public worship save in tho service of praise, mid that llioi'o should be no definite public profession of Christian faith? Comment is also made on the desultory method of reading the Scriptures, under which largo portions of the Word of God are seldom or never brought to the attention of the congregations.
