During the past few years wonderful progress has-been made towards the perfection of milking machines'. The last word is "Jersey." A special feature (and cer : ' tainly one' of ■ the most valuable)' of the "Jersey" is the alternating pulsiiticv-si, device which has brought the. work of the milking machine dowri to the natural ruet'liod, and removed any objection on the part'of the cow to machine milking; -The pulsations are applied alternately and (he fore and .hind-quarters of the .udder, iii-. suring—in addition to contentment, of the animal—cleail milking, greater spew), and air entire absenco of any jerky pump ac-! tion. By means of ail automatic, releaser the vacuum, .is cut off, letting the. teat-cups slip.'off as, soon aW the' flow of milk ceascs. 'Anotlier' point which, will appeal strongly to "dairvfarmers is the portable pulsator, which' may be used either at the pail "or on the pipe line overhead; It is extremely simple and strong, aridflthe speed,' or force, is controlled,by one screw. The "Jersey" teat-cups are-made of a special aluminium alloy, which combines lightness .and, strength, and the construction is so simple that it is impossible for dirt to collect The.inflator-is merely a few inches of rubber tube, and.can be reversbd,„thus doubling its life. Tho "Jersey' 1 has many other .valuable features, many'of which are quite distinctive. The original cost'is low; maintenanco,-has. been Teduced to a minimum, and in addition ■ the machine may be.fitted with automatic-control and operated by any power.
