MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A NEW TOWN HALL. The fortnightly meeting of the. Miramar Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last evening. The Mayor (Mr. J. Brodie) was in the chair. Others »lso present were: Councillors Richards, Tellord, Bell, Stone, Bowie, and Laurenson. A letter was received from tho Minister for Internal Affairs statin:; that it had been decided to Grant a subsidy not exceeding £'250 towards the cost of erecting a Town Hall. The Mayor remarked that the council were to be congratulated on Retting the subsidy, as a Town Hall was urgently required in Miramar. Ho moved that a reply be sent thanking the Minister for the subsidy. It is the intention of the council to havo tho foundation stone laid on Coronation Day. Tho ceremony, which is to be performed on Thursday morning, is the first of its kind yet held in the Miramar borough. It was decided to construct an additional training wall at a cost of about £104 at the reservoir. .Mr. A. L. Wilson was appointed assessor for valuation of rating to the bor.oueh. ' ' ' The Finance Committee' lscomniended that tho ,65000 loan, recently decided on by the ratepayers, be.raifed in full, and that .debentures bo issued as required.— Adopted. Councillor Richards was appointed oinkro* fund, Commissioner.
