A Petone Wedding." Yesterday afternoon at the Petone Presbyterian.Church, Miss Amy. Piper, . youngest daughter of Mr. Joseph Piper, of Petoue, was married to Mr. Thomas Williams, youngest son of Mrs. M. F. Williams, of Picton. Tho Rev. A. Thomson was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a cream empire silk gown, with train. The skirt was trimmed with knots, and the bodice with insertion and folded silk. She carried a floral horse-shoo with ribbons. The bridesmaids were Miss Amy Packard and the Misses Maisie and Flora Wilson, nieces of the bridegroom. Miss Packard, wore a pretty dress of silk delaine, and carried a shower bouquet. The little Misses Wilson woro silk dresses, Riid carried tiny 'baskets of flowers. The ceremony was witnessed by a large number of guests and friends. As the party left the church, Mr. Rennio played the '"Wedding March." Mr. Lincoln Fuller wns best man. The bridegroom's present to tho bride was a gold watchchain. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bndo's parents, aud, later in the day, Mr. and Mrs. Williams left for Auckland. Star Boating Club Ball. The Sydney Street Schoolroom was beautifully decorated last evening for the annual ball of the Star Boating Club. Lycopodium had been used to great effect, as well as branches of fern trees, thick ropes of the former . being carried from corner to corner and fastened to Hie gasoliers_in..the centre of the.room. Designs, carried out with oars and fastened with blue and white drapings, alternated with fern tree branches upon the walls, .while tho stage.had been carpeted in crimson, furnished with couches and chairs, and the front of it hidden with blue and white drapery and most regular designs of cars. Quantities of palms were also disposed about the stage, while overhead, was'suspended a single sculler. The passage at the side entrance of the hall and all the various rooms were carpeted in crimson, and', with the use of screens and couchesi made comfortable sitting-out places. Bridge, wearing black satin veiled with sequined net aud relieved with white; Mrs. Fulton, blue satin with-braiding; Mrs. Seaton, black silk with silver embroidery veiled with black chiffon; Mrs. Bayfield, dark blue silk relieved with white and with touches of silver beading; Miss D. Chilman, white ninon with crystal embroidery; Miss D. Wilson, blue silk frock with trimming of jewelled net; Miss I. Braudon, pink silk frock; Miss Fulton, shaded blue ninon over vieux rose silk; Miss Clifford, vienx rose silk with a tunic, dress of grey ninon; Miss O. Moyes, black velvet frock with silver net; Miss A. Holmes, pink silk with an ' overdress of white net; Miss;' Roberts, white net with silver trimming; Miss E. Holmes, pale blue silk frock with lace and silver embroidery; Miss Marks, scarlet ninon with touches of black; Miss Seaton, embroidered" tunic frock of white ninon; Miss Kelly, black velvet with/white lace berthe; Miss Moore, blue silk veiled with floral chiffon; Miss Diddams (Greytown), blue satin frock with silver embroidery; Miss Peat, grey silk dress with silver trimming; Mrs. E. Johnston, white satin; Miss N. Osborne-Gibbes, white satin trimmed with lace; Miss Elder, vieux rose frock; Miss Mandel, pale blue silk veiled with jewelled net; Miss Nathan,, white ninon, with silver embroidery; Miss Pollock (Hastings), .white ninon frock. Mr. W. S. Wheeler and Mr. L. V. Hulbert were the joint secretaries for the ball. .. ,An Afternoon Tea. •Yesterday afternoon Mrs. F. M. B. Fisher was the hostess at a very enjoyablo tea, given at her home in Fitzherbert Terrace, for Miss Beatrice Day, who is at present her guest. Tea was "served in the dining-room, the table having been very prettily ■ arranged with white narcissi, while, in the drawing-room, bowls of hydrangeas and quantities of pink heath gave a charming effect to the room. Mrs. Fisher woro a graceful pale blue princess diess relieved with white lace, and Miss Day was in a frock of black ninon, with transparent yoke and sleeves touched with ' green and tunic skirt bordered with a black and,green'fringe.
