KIWITEA AFFAIRS.
The ordinary meeting of the Kiwitea County Council was held at the County Chambers at Kimboltoii on Saturday. Present: Councillors !•'. F. Ilockly (chairman), E. Short, 11. Fowler, J. Morton, Grice, Shaw, M'Neil, and M'lnfyre.
The Wellington Ilnrbour Board wrote thanking the council for drawing attention to'tlie expenses incurred unnecessariiy in connection with the recent election. The engineer reported that there had been heavy slips on the Kawhatau Cliff, and Mangawharariki, and Upper Knwhntau Roads during recent rains, but the roads had been kept open for traffic. The following alterations in the rate roll were agreed to:—G. Malcolm to James Stent, Section 11, Township of Kangiwahiit; J. Stent to W. Jameson, Section 25, Block 111, Apiti S.D.; J. Stent to J. S. Curr, Sections 23 and 54, Block 111, Apiti S.D.; Brewster and Wotton lo A. and J. Wilson, Section 75, Block XIV, Ilautapu, and Section 76, Bloclc 11, Apiti 5.1).; Brewster and Wotton to A. and J. Wilson, part of Sections 4 and 5, Block'XlV, Hautapu S.D. The following motions were agreed to:— "(1) That the council protests to the Minister for Railways at the extra charge of rate and a half on imported timber for the use of local bodies; (2) that the engineer be asked to inspect the bridge on Bryce's Road, and take such sieps as he thinks necessary to make it safe; fi)) that the engineer be instructed to inform persons owning trees which Tire shading the reads that they must keep them within their fenccs."
