IMPEDING TRAM TRAFFIC. On a charge of unlawfully impeding a tramcar in Manners Street on Mav 6, William Harry Douglas, an express driver, was fined 10s., and ordered to pay I °i, co&ts 135., witnesses's expenses 12 s.: and solicitor's fee ,£1 Is., i„ default 4S hours imprisonment. ALLEGED THEFT. Andrew Allan Allan was charged with failing to account for the sum of ,£3 to \Y. M'Clintock. which sum he had received Charles Shepherd at Christchurch, on Icbruarv 3. in terms requiring him to account for it to J. W. M'Clintock. On the application of Chief Detective Broberg, accused was remanded (o appear at Christehurch this morning. ' VAGRANCY CHARGES. A young man, named Michael M'Grath, p eaded guilty to a charge of being an idle and disorderly person with insufficient lawful means of support. The police report stated that accused had been idling about the city for a month, and had ignored a caution to obtain work. There were several previous convictions against him. A sentence of three months' imprisonment was imposed. Margaret Irving pleaded to a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond, and was convicted, and ordered (o conio up for sentence when called on, a condition that she goes to the Salvation Army Home, liad remains there for a period of six months. MAINTENANCE. I*'or disobedience of a maintenance order, uiider which the arrears amounted to -£10 18s., Lily Montgomery was sentenced (j fourteen days' imprisonment. Edward Bevan, who did not appear to answer three charges of disobedience of maintenance orders, was sentenced to II days' imprisonment on each charge.
; OTHER CASES. 1 John M'Eachern admitted having boon found drunk during the currency of a prohibition order in forcc against him. Hoi was declared a habitual inebriate, and was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Ihoina:} Reeves, who had been convicted on a number of-occasions for drunkenness, was alfo declared a habitual inebriate,' find was sent to gaol for a month. Annie Peat, charged with drunkenness, did not appear. . Sho was fined 10s, in ae.auit 24 hours' imprisonment. A firit-offending inebriate, who did not appear, was ordered to forfeit his bail of 10s., m deiault 24 hours' imprisonAnother.first offender was fined 55., with (he usual alternative. Three others were convicted and discharged. .PAWNBROKER'S LICENSE. - Morris Fruhauf was granted a pawnbroker's license.
