MASTERTON NOTES.
(By Telegraph.—Special Corrcsaondent.l Masterton, June 18. Three very severe frosts have been experienced in this district in succession. The District Coroner yesterday returned a verdict of death from misadventure in vho ease in which a boy named Sydney Johnusen fell over a cliff and was drowned. Entries closed on Saturday for the Masterton Musical and Elocutionary Society's Festival. The total has reached 300,' and the competitors hail from all parts of the Dominion. Although the list is incomplete, it is understood that very few young men in this district have failed to register under the Defence Act. ' Members of the Wairarapa Hunt Club had a most enjoyable run at Blairlogio yesterday. A large number of Masterton residents intend proceeding to the Palmerston Winter Show this week.
