HARRIERS AND THEIR DOINGS.
THE PALMER CUP. Tho Wellington Harriers' Club had a good day on Saturday last for their Palmer Cup fixture—a .sealed handicap of three miles, held on their course at Miramar. Tho course proved drier than was the case last year, and consequently faster times wero registered. C. Row-berry again secured fastest timo (17min. lsoc.), thug cutting one minute off last year's time, for ' which feat he receives a special trophy. ■ Only 15 competitors started out of tho H entered. Soon after tho word to go was given C. Cowberry went to the front, and was followed by F. Rowbcrry and F. Wilton, with F. Pincknoy and L. Salcfc • close up, C. Cowberry eventually winning by about 100 yards. The event was no- , ticeable for the strong finishes and the '• number of dead heats run (four). After the handicaps had been deducted the winner of the cup and first trophy was C found to be F. Rowborry, with P. Wilton second trophy and C. Johnson third. The weekly run of the Brooklyn Club was held from Wyatt's Rooms, Worscr Bay, on Saturday afternoon, twenty-two members taking part. Tho laying of paper was dispensed with on account of possible interference with the Wellington Harriers' three-mile handicap. The course selected by the captain was from Worsor Bay ov>r the hill into Miramar, towards the gasometer, and then up to Wonderland tea rooms, where members had (he opportunity of n?ci"g the finish of the Wellington Harriers' Ihreo-milo handicap. After the race members ran back to tho starling point, and a run in was held from the top of the Woiser Bay hilL, This resulted as follows:-P. Wilton, 1} C. Murrav, 2; A. Oliver, 3.
