The persons employed totalled nearly 100,000, an increase of 8000. Tho salaries paid amounted to or above the previous year. Tho value of the plant and machinery is sot down at ,£11,542,000, an increase of .£1,211,000. Land and buildings were valued at ,£7,252,000, an increase of ,£627,000.
