The hall was tastefully decorated, and disclosed a brilliant display of bunting. "Tho night being a very cold one, tho programme was not allowed to lag, and, consequently, everything was over by 1.30 a.m. ■ The case of Mann v. Andrews occupied tho Court for the greater part of Thursday. Tho claim was for alleged damages done to a horse and bull by Andrews's bull breaking through tho fence and goring tho animals. After hearing the evidence, his AVorship reserved his decision, remarking that the Act did not provide for damages being claimed for insecure, or unfenced land, but that tho fences should be of suSicient security to keep the cattle of the proprietor in, and other people's cattle out. The decision of this case will bo of interest to farmers. FEILDING. The Kimbolton School has been closed until Juno 2Gth 011 account of measles. The Coronation commemoration is postponed until the reopening of the school. Professor W. T. Mills, of Milwaukee, U.S.A., delivered a frco lecture to a large attendance in the Parish Hall on Thursday night. —______ OTAKI. At tho last meeting of the Ladies' Guild, Mrs. Smith was elected president, Mesdames W. M. Simeox and Stevens vicepresident, Miss Best secretary, and Mrs. Walter Best treasurer. The balance-sheet showed the guild to have a substantial credit. A motor-cyclist, while evading tho vagaries of a useless "kuri," side-slipped and fell to the ground. 13y the aid of an axe tho bent parts of the machino were straightened, and tho rider continued his journey. A concert, held in aid of the Native College, in tho Town Hall, on Thursday night, was a success. There was a large audience, and the lengthy programme was a good one. A "meet" in connection with the local hunt club took place on Wednesday afternoon at Te Horo, when a number of followers took part. The sport was thoroughly enjoyed. A "meet of a similar nature took"place at Manakau yesterday, when some 43 followers finished in tho ■ second round. Mr. and Mrs. D. Thomson entertained followers and spectators at afternoon tea. At a meeting of the Horowhenua Heftkey Association on Thursday night, it was decided to play Manawatu for the Norden Cup on July 5, and that a North v. South match lie played on Coronation Day, and a Probable v. Possible match in 'the following week. Afterwards Messrs. Easther (Levin) and Nicolson (Otaki) will pick tho teams.
