"The Arabian Knights," staged by ttio local amateur dramatic society on Wednesday evening, was in every way successful. The Druids' Hall was well filled, and the audience showed its appreciation. The cast of characters of the piece—a farco in three acts, founded on the German of von Moser, by Sydney Grundy— was as follows:— "Arthur Hummingtop, Mr. J. H. E. Tilling; "Ralph Omerod, ' Mr. E. J. King; "Joshua Gillibrand,"
Mr. J. Bovis; "Dobson," Mr. W. Morland; "Mrs. Hummingtop," Mrs. Tilling; "Mrs. Gillibrand," Mrs. W. Norman; "Rosa Colombier," Mrs. R. E. Selby; "Daisy Maitland," Miss N. Asquith; "Barbara," Mrs. E. Terry. All the principal characters sustained their parts very fairly, and especially the ladies. One or two of the gentlemen in the cast were, at times, somewhat inarticulate in their delivery and stilted in their action. During the evening Miss Laurvig directed an orchestra, consisting of Messrs. Hook, Law, and R. Merwood. During the interval Mr. Trainer thanked the audience en behalf of the society for the assistance given. The proceeds are to be devoted to further improving tho recreation ground, which will be thrown open next summer and Mr. G. N. Stophenson, one of the trustees, outlined tho work that had been dono in improving this reserve. Mr. Tillinj; was stage manager; Mr. E. Terry, property manager; Mr. it.
