The French mail steamer Pacifique-ar-rived to-day from Noumea under convoy o? the French warship Kersaint. The Pacifiquo struck a reef just before leaving, aud damaged her steering gear. She is to bo docked at Sydney. The warship convoyed her as a precautionary measure. The Pacifique is a vessel of 193S tons gross, and was built in France in ISO!). She trades between Sydney, Noumea, and the New Hebrides.
