Details are to hand from Singapore of tlie shooting at Kualaluinpur of a man named Steward by Mrs. Proudlock, wife of the head of the Victoria Institution. Mrs. Proudlock, who has been charged with murder, alleges that sho was alone in her bungalow, when Steward, who was a friend of the family, called. Hβ made violent advances, and she seized a revolver and fired five shots into his body at dose quarters. Steward is described as a quiet man. Bail amounting to a thousand dollars was allowed. For the defence in tho murder case it is pleaded that Mrs. Proudlocks' hysterical and toental equilibrium was upset by Steward's assault, and that she did not know what happened after the first shot was fired.
