WAKE UP WELLINGTON.

Sir,—l saw a letter signed I. E. H. in last night's Dominion urging the Chamber of Commerce to "wake up" Wellington, regarding the crealion of an A. anrl P. Society, i feel sure that if such a step was taken a great success would be made of a show, hut it. must be held near the city or have (he railway running on to the rliow ground so as people could get lo the grounds as cheaply us possible. This is necessary also so that all stock and exhibitors may have easy access, as they cannot ha driven Ihrongh the streets of a largo city. Easy access is necessary to get a good gate Attendance. You should be able, in a largo city like Wellington, to put 2000 members on the books, or perhaps a great many more. I also say "wake up Wellington" and take steps to form a Pastoral Society so thrit exhibitors from the South Island and North Island could compete. I was judging ill Dunedin last show, and it was a real pleasure t'o see the people from the city turn out on show day and make the show ,r success. It could be done in Wellington and a. winter show could also be held, as the Otago Pastoral Society does. Since the Main Trunk railway has been opened to Auckland, we have exhibited twice and by our going to the far north have assisted to make their show a greater success than formerly, and I might say at both shows we came back with the honour of taking many first and second prizes. It takes three d.iys to get' to Auckland with sheep, but they can bring you back in two days. I hope Wellington will wake up. I, for one, will gave a show my best support,—l am, etc., W. B. ALLEN. Clareville, June 1.
