A CORONATION PARASOL.
Amongst the Coronation gifts to tlio Queen will be a parasol from the women of tile island of St. Vincent. It is composed .entirely, of British Einpiro material?, and is made of finely embroidered muslin worked Ij.v several native ladies. The artistic shadow work, which is a prominent feature of the parasol, is peculiar to the West. Indies, but lias been steadily primus i» favour by Englishwomen for the past few years (says r.u. English paper). The '.virile embroidered shadow work is done 011 finest muslin, the pattern being taken from a parasol of Japanese shape. It is made without scams, and is mounted over pink silk, with pink chiffon frills nil round the edge, while it is lined inside with gathered chiffon. The stick is of native wood, nnd the gold handle is a model of (ho 1 lovely West Indian conch shell, the inside or which is in shaded pink enamel work, Ths idea originated with lady •Sadler, wife of the Governor of the Windward Islands, and the Hon. Mrs. Murray, wife of the Administrator of St. Vincent.
