Mr. Elwood Mead, the Victorian irrigation expert, in his report on the Barren Jack irrigation scheme for utilising the Murrumbidgoo waters, says that the scheme, when complete, will be capable of supporting two hundred thousand people. It embraces 1,341,000. acres, of which 356,000 arc irrigable. There will be water available for 70,000 acres next summer.
