EMPLOYEES' DEMANDS. The recently-formed Union of "'Welling* ton Destructor Employees has presented a series of claims in connection with wages and working conditions to tho City. Council. Mr. M. J. Keardon has been appointed to represent the union in any negotiations that may tako place with tho C'it"y Council. Tho more important clauses in iho union's demands are as follow.— A week's work shall consist of six shifts of eight hours each shift. Day shift, 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Afternoon shift, 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. Night shift, 11 p.m. until' 7 a.m. Rate of wages shall be twelve shillings per shift all round, with (he exception of tho lending fireman in onch shift, who, shall be paid such further sum as may bo agreed upon. Destructor hands shall bo paid for tho following holidays-.-New Year's Day, Anniversiry Day, Good Friday, Easier Monday, Prince of Wales Birthday, Labour Da'V, King's Birthday, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. In addition to the above ench employee shall receive a holiday of fourteen consecutivo working days in each year on full ordinary pay. Other conditions relating to details of work also appear in the demand, but the foregoing aro the main particulars.
