At a meeting of the British Hospital Association, it was stated that the National "Insurance Bill would cost tho hospitals .£30,000 nnnually. It was urged that an amendment should bo made in the direction of exempting , nurses and other employees in voluntary hospitals from its operation, otherwise, it was argued, the usefulness and efficiency of such hospitals would bo impaired. Tho point was emphasised that the compulsory contributions asked for by the Bill would largely curtail the working classes' contributions to hospital funds.
