PROPOSED 1 FARMERS' LABORATORY.
At the- Fanners' Union Conference, which , sat in Auckland last week, the president introduced an executive remit, "That the Auckland executive bo authorised to establish a laboratory for the analysis of soils and manures." He said that there was am agricultural chemist in Auckland (Mr..lt. Lynch), who would give his honorary services for twelve months, the cost being that only of material and appliances. The secretary stated that •Ihe .estimated expenditure (for seven analyses a week) would he ,£loo—<£so for material and .£SO for a shed to l>e used as ■a laboratory. The cost to the farmer of each analysis would bo hnlf-a-crown. , A proposal, "That the matter be rofer,re/l to the executive for favourable con'sideration," was carried.
