A westerly nrca/of low pressure has prevailed, and the barometer has fallen low in the south. Strong westerly winds have been recorded, with rain in many rarts, especially on the West Coast. Cloudy and misty weather hos been experienced in the northern districts, and on the East Coast of the South Island. Present indications are for westerly winds strong to Rale, veering to southerly everywhere Eoon. Hain and colder weather nrobablo generally, and snow on higher levels in the south. Otaki, June I.—Bright eunshine early in the morning; overcast later, and then very fine weather. Shannon, June I.—Hain fell on Wednesday night, but Thursday was One and breezy. Masterton, Juno I .-Rev. A. Hodge reported at six o'clock last night:—Shade temperature, maximum 66.2dctr., minimum 44 deg., mean 55.1dcg.; earth radiation, 42deg.; earth temperature (one foot below surface), 53.8dcg.; wind, light westerly; weather, dull and warm. Fcatherston, June I.—Bine sky; temperature mild; strong N.W. breeze. Grey town, June 1.-The weather is now fine, with a drying wind from N.W.; temperature at 9 a.m., 56dcg. 1.; probably remain fine for 24 hours. Hastings, June 1.-To-day has been mild and spring-like.
