A preliminary inquiry has been opened at Buluwayo iuto the shooting of a lintivo boy by Mr. Lewis, a lending citizen of the town, who killed the native after lie had been identified as having made indecent overtures- to his (Lewis's) daughters. One of the Lewis girls, aged 15, gnve evidence that the native had frequently made indecent: suggestions (o her, and offered her money. She told her father and accompanied him to identify the native. Her father then immediately shot him with a revolver. NATAL WOMAN ASSAULTED. Durban, May 31. A native entered a houso and assaulted an English servant who was alone. Tho girl swooned. Tho native escaped, but a man has been arrested on suspicion of being the culprit.
