A grade Gartons are now quoted at 2s. 6Jd., and A grade Sparrowbills 2s. 6d. per bushel, f.o.b. south; prime samples Dun oats have advanced to 3s. per bushel. Fowls' wheat—The market remains lira, the bulk now being sold being secondgrade milling wheat. The current quotation is 3s. 6d. to 3s. -7d., f.o.b. south. Fowls' barley.-There ics very little business doing in this, the demand being mostly for wheat and maize. ■ Maize.—A very good demand has set in. and fairly heavy sales are being made at 3s. 2d. to 3s. 3d., ex store, Wellington. Chaff.—Some really fine samples are coming in from the Wairarapa, and »re selling at £6 Es. per ton, sackr, in, whilst fair quality Marlborough chaff is making £6 per ton. ' Partridge peas-Only a. hand-to-mouth business is doing, current values being 46. 6d. to 4s. 9d. Prussian blue peas are in exceedingly short supply. Flour continues at £8 10.=. per ton, f.o.b. south, less the usual discounts. Rice Fldur.-Fair sales are being made at £6 per ton. Bice meal is ruling at £5 per ton. Bran is now quoted at £4 lCs. and pollard at £6, f.o.b. south. Potatoes.—Southland growers are holding for much higher'rates than are offered f.o.b. Lyttelton, - consequently ■ the bulk of the trade is focused in the Canterbury district. *■ Onions.—The market is well supplied with Victorian and New Zealand-grown, and prices are without alteration. Eolled Oats.—The Crown Milling Company, still maintains the price at Bs. 6d. per dozen 41b. bags, less the usual discount. Butter.—The market is strong; prime milled in bulk is selling at ICJd. to lid. per lb. Cheese—Only moderate : stocks are held by the various merchants. Host factory cheese, medium size, is quoted at 6d. to 61d., with loaf ruling at 63d. Eggs.—Frcth eggs are in .'excellent demand at. Is. LCd: to 2s. per doicn for willknown brands, whilst preserved are dull of sale at Is. 2d. per doz. Bacon and Hams.—The demand continues good. Sides 73d., rolls and hams B>d. Poultry.—Hens, 3s. to 3s. 6d.; cockerels, 2s. 6d. to 45.; ducks. ss. to 65.; turkey gobblers, Bd. to 9n\ nor lb. live weight; hens, 6d. to 7d. All classes of poultry are in good demand. Vegetables.—Clbbagcs are ruling at 4s. to fa. 6d. per ?ack; cauliflowers of choice quality range from Bs. to 9s. 6d.; carrots and parsnina are easier, and are now quoted at 2s. Gd. to 3s. 6d. per sack; swedes arc bringing 2.'. to 2s. 6d. per cwt.; pumpkins, 3s. 6d. to 4s. 6d., and marrows 2s. 6d. to 3s. Fruit.—The bulk of the bunches of bananas per s.s. Navua arrived in an overripe condition, ar.d a larco number consisted merely of stocks. Choice case bananas realised 7e. to 95.. and for sound bunches 3s. to 4s. was obtained. The Aoraugi J3 due from Sydney with about 500 packages for this market. Fairly heavy shipments of Port Albert apples, mostly Doughertys, have been marketed during the week, choice nnality ranging from ?s. to 10s. per case. Cookine anDles have declined in value: Erps's Scedlinee arc now realising 45.-to 4s. 6d.. other varieties range from ss. to 6s. Hobart pears in half ca6es realise 4s. 9d. to ss. 6d. for prime nuality.
