PROGRESS OF REGISTRATION. According to the returns from the various area officers in the Wellington Military District, the result of last week's registration is as follows:— ' Terri-. Quite a number of youths of eligible age liavo openly asserted their intention of not registering their names. These brave young men have been duly noted, and arrangements are being made to have about 20 of them mado an example of. On Saturday, proceedings will be instituted against these, the first batch of prosecutions under the obligatory provisions of the Defence Act. Once again, it. is reiterated that every male citizen of New Zealand who was on March 1 last, between the ages of It and 21, must fill in the prescribed form of registration, and send it in to the area officer of his particular district. Whatever grounds one may have for claiming exemption from training does not affect the question of registration. There are no exemptions from registration. The question of exemptions from training will lie gone into later.
