THE AUCKLAND BURGLARY.
o— ■ ARRESTS MADE IN SAN FRANCISCO: By ielesraph— Press Association—Oopyrient New York, May 28. Orders have been issued for tha release of a quantity of smuggled jewellery recently seized by the Customs officials at San Francisco. Tho jewellery will be returned to New Zealand. William and Mande Rogers, who arc charged with tho theft of the jewellery, are also being sent back to New Zealand. On Sunday, March 19, the shop of Mr. Adolph Kohn—one of tho best-known jewellers' 6hops in Auckland, was broken into and goods to the value of .£1250 abstracted. The principal losses were rings, brooches, muff chains, bracelets, and bangles, and in the caso of each class of article tho valuo is over .£IOO. _ A largo number of pendants, watches, tie-pins, etc., wero also stolen. The burglary was a particularly daring one. as the shop was lit up and open to full view by police and passers-by day and night. The burglars apparently entered by a side-window, and if is surmised that they crawled round the shop behind the counters. Etch the window was cleared of all gold articles.
