SCARS ON TERRA NOVA.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, May 23. The Antarctic exploration ship Terra Nova was docked at Lvttelton yesterday to complete overhaul. An examination of the hull this niorning disclosed the fact that the vessel's keel was damaged by grounding, on a shoal in M'Mnrdo Sound. The damage is amidships, and the keel has been crunched and broken by grinding on the shoal. For a length of about 20 feet the timber is splintered and crushed to a depth of about six inches. On the starboard side of tho vessel, about eight feet out from tho keel, two of the vessel's heavy timbers have also boon scored by contact with the reef. The damage sustained by tho vessel is not at nil serious, and sho is not leaking. Tho vessel will probably be in dock for about a fortnight, (luring which time the whole of the hull will be recaulkcd and any defects made good.
