WEDNESDAY ASSOCIATION. RESULT OF MATCHES. Karori 1 Hereawa 1 Pctone A 4 Pctone B 1 Post and Telegraph 4 Hui Mai 3 Pakeha 3 Artillery 0 The fourth scries of games in the first round of (ho Wednesday,hockey competition was played yesterday afternoon in favourable weather. In the match Karori v. Hereawa play was not of a very brilliant order, n any chances of scoring being thrown away by both sides. Pctone A outclassed (ho B ileam, their combination being of first-class order. Pott and Telegraph v. Hui Mai was the nest match of tho day. The combination of both was good, and the contest was fast and open throughout. PAKEHA-ARTILLERY. • This flame was more even than the scores show. Pakeha had the better combination, but Artillery showed much improvement. They lost many chances, however, through want of combination and not following up. KAROIU-HEREAWA. The match ICarori v. Hereawa" was played at Karori. In 'the first spell both teams indulged 'in hard, wild hitting, Karori having tho best of tho game. When about three-parts of the spell had been played, Needham (for Karori) started a. passing-rush," which ended in C. Spiers finding the net. The remainder of the spell was tame. In the second spell play was of a moro even order, both.sides, however, missing many chances to score. The game eventually ended in favour of Karori by 1 goal (o nil. For Karori, Cooper, Needham, Lowe, Atkin. H. Cole, and Gayford were prominent, while, for Hormwa, Dowling, . • Cleraentson, Drown, Kuch, Bruce, and Cragg were tho best. Mr. Manning was referee. PETONE A-PETONE B. This game was played at Pctone. ( In the first spell tho "B's" started well, carrying the game into the "A's" 25. "A's" then started out, headed by J. M'Ewan, and some fine passing was indulged in, which ended by J. M'Ewen finding' the net. "B's," by hard • play, now had a turn-of attacking ,and Riddler, playing a great game, centred the ball, and' enabled Burns to score. The spell ended with the scores even—ona all. In the second spell "A's" had all the best of it. "B's" put in lots of work,' but, at times, got sadly in each other's way. Beswick, J. M'Ewan, and W. M'Ewan each scored a goal. For "A's," the M'Ewan Brothers, Beswick, and Wylie, and for "BV'Riddler, Pointon, and Carson were the best. Mr. Kean was referee. . HUI MAI-P. AND T. The-match Post and-Telegraph, v. Hui Mai was played at Duppa Street. In the first spell play ";as open and fast, the combination of both teams being of tho best. Hui Mai opened by Benge scoring tho first goal. P. and T. then had a turn, Cameron passing to Hatfield, to Craig, to Jones, who sent a hot. one in, but the ball struck the post, and Bay (for Hui Mai) got the ball away. P. hlid T. kept up the attack, and Sisson managed to find tho net. The game- was marked by passing from one end of the ground to the other, and, from a scramble in front of the P. and T. goal, Dalgloish found the net. When play restarted, P. and T. carried the game down- the field, and M'Kay, by fast following up, scored. The spell ended two goals all. In. the second spell P. and T., playing with more dash, sdou had Hui Mai on the defence,,and' had to give a corner, from which Jones notched a goal. Hui Mai now attacked tmVIV ahd : T. goal, but lost a chance to'score by.giving "slicks." From the free hit, P.' and T. carried the game right down tho field, and Jones, by fast following up, shot a goaU Just before, tho call of time,"Dalgleish scored for Hui Mai. The game ended in favour of P. and T. by i goals to 3. For the winners Jones, Craig, Hatfield, Cameron, and Bale were prominent, and, for Hui Mai, Hoy, Lipnett, Sherwood, and Benge were the .best. PAKEHA-ARTILLERY. The match Pakeha.v. Artillery wasplayod on the Basin Reserve, but, owin'* to the lons grass, play was not brilliant. In the first spell Pakcha had much the best of the game, showing more combination and dash. Themr"-"" (IV-eha) scored after a lot of give-and-take play; In the second spoil, Thompson again opened v.el 1 by finding the net from a forward scramble. The game was subsequently carried from one end !o the other, but, ■ just on the call of time, Thompson managed to again score.. The game thus ended:—Pakeha, 3; Artillery, nil. For Pakeha, Grade. Thompson, and Paget were' seen a pood deal, while, for Artillery, Ranson, Cooper, Hushes, and Wat.kin plnyejl very fair games. Mr. Smith -was referee. ' MANAWATU REPRESENTATIVES.
