In a speech, Mr. Carnegie said: "I love, my native land, Scotland, as my mothercountry; I love this.as wife-country. If I could see my motherland and. wil'eland hand in hand, peace reigning for ever between them, a new charm would bo added, to .life, and 1 should say, 'Lord, now lettest Thou Thy servant depart in Mace.'"
