"THE WHIP." The Opera House was filled to its utmost capacity last evening, when Williamson's Dramatic Company :>(agcd. "The Whip" once. more. The magnificent scenery anil effects, the racy story and bright comedy of the play have taken a firm grip of Wellington playgoers, and tho play should run for another week to big business. THEATRE ROYAL. Pullers' Vaudeville Company performed before, a large, audience at. the Theatre Royal la.-t night, when Mr. Alexander Prince, tho champion concertina soloist, was again received with enthusiasm. His is one of the mo.-t popular turns that have boon billed for some considerable time. Daley and O'Brien. Gardiner and T.e Mar, Carlton and Sutton, Miss Nellie Power, .Miss Mabel Lynuo, and Miss Brightie Carlisle all contribute- successful item? to the programme. Tho end of the present week will see a number of new faces in tho company. A special announcement by tho management states that the Staigs,' w-ho perform thrilling foots on motor-cyclesj will join the circuit at tho beginning of June. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. "Full house" was the.cry at His Majesty's Theatre last evening, when a'magnificent selection of pictures was screened. To-night a new programme, which arrives by the 'Frisco mail,, will be presented. The new sot consists of the very latest star productions ,by the world's standard producers, including the Vitagraph Company's last success, "Dr. Cupid," which is said to be one of that company's best comedies. N In addition to the'riew'series to-night, Messrs. Fuller and Sons, owing to numerous requests of their, patrons, are.again presenting the Itala Company's'great-photo .play, ''1«e Fall of Troy." The film is one of the finest yet seen in Wellington, and,picture lovers'should not miss the opportunity of witnessing it. A matinee will be held on Saturday. KING'S THEATRE. There is a fine, human touch about tho picture story. "Clancy,", as. screened •at the King's Theatre during the last fewevenings. Tho New York police, form the subject. matter of ~the film, wln'cii again made a strong appeal to'tho big "house". . last evening. Recent events were chronicled in picture form by the Pathe Gazette, and. other picturesof -interest, included "Summer' in the North," '-'A Clever Ruse," and "Dick Lightfingers." ,'To-nig'ht there will be a change of prograrii'rne. , Tuesday next is 'to be a special-yachtsmen's evening. : THE NEW THEATRE. Morning, afternoon, and evening the moving pictures continue to show at tho New Theatre, and, judging by tho crowds that visited this place of amusement yesterday, Messrs. JVincMahon and Donnelly understand tho class of picture that best pleases. The dramatic and scenic studios are capital productions, and the industrial films ate always interesting. Among pictures that appear on tho current pro-gramme-are "Texas Ted's Defence," a Western study in which some very fine horsemanship •is displayed; , "The Old Water Jar," a Red Indian scene; "Manufacture of Artificial Flowers," a Frenca industry; "His Daughter," a capital drama; and'"The Beat Wins," an amusing comedy. SKATING RINK. In catering for, tho skaters at Fullers' Rink, the management have not overlooked the comfort of those who attend to watch the merry throng of rinkers on the splendid floor surface—which is now in the very best condition. With the excellent music of the Olympia Band, the bright coloured lights, and the' perfection of tho modern ball-bearing skates, an evening at tho rink is a Teal pleasure. Some attractions of a novel nature aro in active preparation, and will be announced at an early date. BARTON BEOS> CIRCUS AT NEWTOWN TO-NIGHT. . Barton Bros.' Circus will open their Wellington season to-night in Adelaide Road, on tho old tram-shed site, for a. short season. Tho company. includes :— The Flying- Pedros (tent-top bar performers), Sybells Bros, (aerialists), Alton and'Mnte, Warren Bros, (comedy billiardtable'acrobats), -Tasman Bradley (juggler and equilibrist), Roy Barton (bounding jockey rider), Mdlle. Jaundewechowsky (hurricane hurdle rider), Alecia. (equestrinrio), Mrs. Jarnette (wire . walker), Miss\Ruby Frenchand Madame Barton. Ample diversion will bo provided ,by six clowns and dummies, headed by "Happy Jackcral." The dog and horse acts are produced by Captain Barton, and aro said to-be very fine. "Tom Tom," one of the troupe, is claimed to be one of the smallest trick ponies in the world. A freo attraction outside the marquee will be given at 7.30 each evening by "Dare Devil Jack Sybe.ll," who will make a slide of 600 ft. 1 from tho highest dome of the tent to the ground below. The prices aro popular ones, viz., Is. and 25.; children halfprice. COMPETITIONS SOCIETY. ; A public meeting in connection with the New Zealand Competitions Society will be held in the Concert Chamber (T6wn Hall) to-night. The Mayor will preside, and a number of well-known citizens will speak, ARTS CLUB. Mr. James, of the Parliamentary Lib-' rary, will deliver a lecture at the Arts Club to-night.
