* COMPARATIVE FIGURES. STATEMENT BY THE BOARD CHAIRMAN. An interesting comparative statement of the figures for the Wellington Harbour Board for the years 1896 and 1910 was prepared by Mr. R. Flcttehcr, chairman of the Harbour Board, for Use at yesterday's opening ceremony in connection with the Exhibition. Tho hydraulic appliances in 1896 were: 1 ,35-ton' crane,' 1 10-ton crane, 5. 2-triii fixed cranes, 12"2-ton moveable* cranes, 6 12-cwt. moveable rotary jiggers, 66 12cwt. fixed jiggers throughout stores, 2 lifts in Queen's Bond, 5 double wool presses-(2 since destroyed by fire). The present hydraulic gear is: 1 35-ton crane, 1- 20-ton crane, 110-ton crane, 5 2-ton fixed cranes, 16 2-ton moveable cranes, 32 2ton Gantry cranes, 6 12-cwt. moveable rotary jiggers, 174 12-cwt. fixed jiggers throughout stores, 2 lifts in Queen's Bond, 9 double, wool presses, 2 15-tou overhead Gantry hand cranes.
