JOTTINGS FROM WANGANUI.

(By TeleErapb.-S D edal Correspondent.) ~ _ „ ~ Wanganui, Mav 2,1. Mr. G V. Poarce, M.P. (chairman of the Patea County Council), presided over a conference attended by delegates from the Paten, Hawcra, and Waitotara Countv Councils, to consider the drawing up of traffic by-laws for adoption bv each of the bodies named. The conference was also attended by a representative of the \\ anganui Automobile Association. After agreeing on a common course of action regarding the widths of tyres and weights to be carried, the conference considered the question of motor traffic, and carried the following resolution:—"All motor-cars are to be registered, and are to carry their registered number, and, in all cases, motors shall take the outside of the road on side cuttings, but shall abide by the rule of the road at all other places."' Matters regulating tho speed of motors were discussed, but no action was taken. The resolutions will be considered by tho respective councils, which," doubtless] will adopt them. , . '

A deputation from the Ilawora Agricultural Association met the committee of the Wanganui Association here this afternoon, and urged the desirability of the Wanganui show lieing held on November 8 and ■!) instead of on November 15 and Ifi as previously decided. This will mean that the Wanganui show is to lie held a week after the Palmerston show, and that the Hawcra show will bo a week later still. Tho idea is to avoid the fortnight's delay between tho Wanganui and Palmer-ston-North fixtures, but this delay has been considered necessary to givo the stock a rest after the Hawke's Hay, Carterton, and Palmerston North shows which follow in quick succession. A notice of motion was tabled to give effect to the deputation's request.
