After discussion with the Timaru Borough representatives, when reference wa,s made to the statutory provision that fees must go to, the borough, no decision was arrived at. It was decided to hold another conference. Small birds was the second subject. On this the counties agreed to reduce the price paid for old birds from Is; to !)d. a dozen, and 6d. for eggs and young birds, as before, but no county is bound to buy any. It is stated that Geraldine paid iIOOO, and Levels .£6S9 last year. It is said the birds have not decreased, but have been kupt in check, nwl it was stated that many were paid for twice over, through supplyin;' poisoned wheat and paying for poisoned birds.
