It was reported in. Wellington yesterday that certain factories were asking Is. a pound for bulk butter. Wellington merchants say that if this is the case, a rise in the retail price. is inevitable. • The opinion is expressed that tho rise will not last long, as the consumption will fall off a good deal, which will mean a decrease(in trade.
