FARMERS AT MOUMAHAKI.
PRAISE FOR LUCERNE. This week, eighteen members of the Otakeho Farmers' Union paid a visit to the Mouinahaki State Farm. A six-aero crop of Inccrno attractetl considerable attention, the party speaking in high praise of. its capabilities as stock fodder. Mr. M'Coimell stated that the paddock was sown as lato as November last/ and a good crop of hay was cut off it two months ago. He considers that lucerne will in tho future play an important part in tho dairy industry. Of the root crops, a patch of silver mangold was much.commended. Though somo of the Ayrshires recently imported from tho Sunnysido Asylum and the Ruakura State Farm aro on tho old side, tho party wore favourably impressed with the herd, and consider it tho nucleus of a splendid herd for dairying purposes.—Patea "Press."
