TO BE OPENED,BY THE ACTINGPREMIER. The Coronation Exhibition, which at present resembles a. town at the height of a building boom, is to be opened by tho Acting-Premier (the Hon. Jas. Carroll) at 3 p.m. on Wednesday noxt. A large number of invitations have been issued by tho committee, and there promises to bo a brilliant gathering at tho launching of this important local enterprise, it is probable* that Mr. Thomas Ballingor, Commissioner, will also bo called on "to make a few remarks as to tho purpose of the Exhibition, and by what means it came into being. A musical touch will be lent tho function by the performance of a selection of part-songs by tho Wellington Liedertafel, under tho direction of Mr. Robert Parker. - It is not: proposed to. mako opening - coremony a lengthy one, as the guests will probably wish to mako at least a casual inspection of the Exhibition. The entries for the photographic, .competition closed yesterday, and arcsaid ■ to bo quite satisfactory. -Me.ssr.3ri Ms; Ross and Higgihbottoin will'-act *as judges. ■ ' Tho loan contributions to the artgallery are now beginning to come in, and the Hanging Committee will cominonco their work probably on Monday next! The.secretary of the Exhibition (Mr. H. F. Allen) took out an insurance policy for £2-100 yesterday, covering the works of art, which are to adorn tho gallery. Tho Exhibition of old andf curious arms which is being mado by tho Dofence Department is being arranged by Captain' O'Sullivan, of the Dcfenco Stores.
